Bilingual Art Learning at the Metropolitan Museum of Art 大都会艺术博物馆双语艺术课堂2

On February 2, Mr.Wang taught a special theme art lesson, “Ancient Language and Modern Language” to the dual language digital art class students (803/804) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This special art lesson featured 3 artwork, “Folio from a Qur’an Manuscript”, “Yoshino Pilgrim’s Jacket (Ohenro-gi) with Text of the Heart Sutra and Yoshino Pilgrimage Stamps”, “Tomb Chapel of Raemkai” from Islamic Art, Japanese Art, and Egyptian Art collections.

During the 1 hour Museum lesson, students studied “Ancient Language and Modern Language” by detailed observation on the ancient artifacts, gesture writing, and multi-modal activities feeling the beauty and diversity of language in different culture. Students were inspired by Islamic Kufic Calligraphy, Egyptian Hieroglyph, and Japanese Calligraphy and made connections with modern graphic language, emoji.
