Bilingual Art Learning at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

On Dec.1, Mr.Wang taught a special theme art lesson, “Power, Wealth, and Protection” to the dual language digital art class students (803/804) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This special art lesson featured 3 artwork, “the Altar Set”, “Gusoku”, “Armor for man and horse” from the Met Chinese Art, Japanese Art, and Arms and Amor collections.

During the 1 hour Museum lesson, students studied “Power, Wealth, and Protection” by detailed observation on the ancient artifacts, live-sketching of the collection, and multi-modal activities feeling the materials and cultural differences in the galleries. Students further explored how modern society structures power & wealth and what “protection” means physically and mentally.
