On April 5, Mr.Wang, taught a special theme art lesson, “Space Design” to the dual language digital art class students (803/804) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This special art lesson featured 3 artwork, “The Temple of Dendur”, “Living Room from the Francis W. Little House: Windows and paneling”, “Before Yesterday We Could Fly: An Afrofuturist Period Room” featuring ancient Egyptian temple, modern American interior, and history inspired futuristic interdisciplinary futuristic room.
During the 1 hour Museum lesson, students studied “Space Design” by detailed observation on the ancient artifacts, quick observation drawing, and multi-modal activities. Students were inspired by The Temple of Dendur’s grand scale and its deep connections with the Nile River, the great architect, Frank Lloyd Wright’s organic architecture, and Afrofuturism. Later on, students applied these inspirations on their virtual 3D space design project, “5024 Future City”.
